How Are Temporary Timecards Handled?

A Temporary Timecard is created when you are not available to sign your timesheet on the last day of the pay period. Your direct reporting manager signs the timecard for you.

  1. Your direct reporting manager completes the timesheet estimating hours for the remainder of period.

  2. Your direct reporting manager signs the timesheet. WebET allows managers to edit and sign timesheets for employees in their chain of command. The direct reporting manager can no longer approve the timesheet once they have signed. A general rule in WebET is that no one can sign and approve the same timesheet.

  3. It is your direct reporting managers responsibility to notify the next manager in the chain of command to approve the timesheet. If 1st and 2nd tier managers are unavailable there is a multi-tiered process for approving timesheets. Please see Who Can Approve My Timecard?

As soon as you are able to access WebET you should review the temporary timecard. One of two situations will occur:

  1. If there are no changes to the hours, project charges or organizational data you only need to sign the timecard. No further action is required by you or the manager who approved the timesheet. The timesheet will retain its processed status.

  2. If there are changes to the hours, project charges or organizational data you not only need to sign the timecard but you must also obtain approval from your manager after revising your timesheet. It is your responsibility to contact your manager and make him/her aware that the timesheet needs to be reapproved. The timesheet is now considered a revised timecard and requires additional processing. Please see How Is A Revised Timecard Handled?
