Overtime Summary

Work Week

Monday 12:01 a.m. through Sunday midnight. It is the basis for recording overtime for Non-Exempt employees. Paid leave is not included in the calculation (based on the Department of Labor regulations).

Standard Pay Period Hours

The number of standard work days (Monday to Friday) between the 1st and 15th of the month or the 16th and the end of the month multiplied by 8 hours. The standard pay period hours are generally 80, 88, or 96. It is the basis for recording overtime for Exempt employees. Paid leave is included in the calculation.

Non-Exempt Employees

Non-Exempt full-time employees will be paid an overtime premium equal to time-and-a-half their regular rate of pay for authorized and required hours worked in excess of 40 hours per week (unless otherwise required by contract or law).

Exempt Employees

Exempt employees who are authorized to receive compensation for required overtime hours receive their straight time regular rate of pay for approved hours.

Recording Hours Worked

Employees record all hours worked at the end of each day to the appropriate charge number for normal work hours with an "R" Pay Type on the timesheet. For example, if an employee works 9 hours on Monday on Project A, 9 hours would be recorded on Monday to the Project A charge number with Pay Type "R". In addition, paid leave (holidays, vacation, etc.) is recorded in the proper increments on the day that the hours are taken.
