What Is FTP?
FTP
(File Transfer Protocol) allows a person to transfer files of all sizes
between two computers connected via the Internet. With
FTP, you can use an application on your PC, called an "FTP client",
to connect to another computer on the Internet that has a directory of
shared files, called an "FTP server". Once
you connect your PC to an FTP server on the Internet, you can exchange
information with others by uploading or downloading files. FTP
servers often contain software, various documents, graphic images and
all sorts of other data that people are sharing between themselves.
