Open shares provide network computer users a convenient method to share documents and data with other network users. This is accomplished by opening permissions to a directory/folder/drive on your host computer to another network computer.
Unfortunately, this practice creates a security vulnerability on the host computer which can be exploited if permissions are not properly set. This in turn can propagate vulnerabilities to the entire CACI network. Unauthorized access and modification to key data can occur. In addition, open shares are commonly targeted by viruses and malware to distribute their payload.
