We do it every day... We step away from our desks to
have a cup of coffee, meet with our customers, or interact with fellow
employees without locking down our workstation. This activity is common,
and a normal part of our daily routine, but at the same time it presents
an opportunity for an unauthorized individual to access our CACI network,
sensitive documents, your personal information, and/or perform other illicit
or illegal activities from a computer assigned to you. An unattended workstation
is an open portal to all data available to you, without any mechanism
in place to determine who can access any of the aforementioned data or
files.
An unattended workstation offers the path of least resistance for malicious activity and is a significant risk to CACI. In order to address this risk, Corporate Information Systems (CIS) will enforce CACI policy and implement an automated workstation locking feature on all CACI workstations. This feature has been enabled for many CACI groups already, and will now be deployed/enforced across the company.
After ten minutes of inactivity, a Windows logon screen will appear and an authorized CACI network username and password (your Active Directory credentials) will be required in order to unlock the workstation. In addition, the standard Windows screensaver will be used when the workstation is locked. The screensaver and wait time are global settings and cannot be changed.
