What is the Purpose of having a Wireless LAN:

Wireless LAN products are affordable and provide a convenience that is hard to dispute. Unfortunately they do introduce security vulnerabilities that have to be addressed in order to secure your personal computer, which in turn, helps secure our CACI network.

By following these 4 simple steps, you can dramatically reduce the vulnerabilities inherent in commercial wireless LAN products. Please note that this is for personal home wireless LAN equipment and not intended to cover hotel and/or other publicly provided wireless LAN connectivity.

Note: These steps should be implemented along with deployment of anti-virus software on individual computers. Other products such as personal firewall software and anti-spyware products are also recommended but are out of the scope of this primer.
