Will there be a performance impact using encrypted files?

Encryption will add overhead when accessing files. Normal operations such as opening and editing documents will not show a noticeable difference, but large copies of data in or out of an encrypted folder will take longer to complete. Because of this we recommend you move personal data that does not need to be encrypted out of your My Documents folder, or simply specify not to encrypt specific subfolders in the My Documents folder.
